Schools

Santa Fe Institute schools offer fast-paced, intensive introductions to complex systems foundations as well as timely topics considered from a complex systems perspective. Formats include lectures, discussions and lab sessions with strong emphasis on student projects. In most cases participation is through application and enrollment is limited. Programs take place in Santa Fe, New Mexico unless otherwise noted.

Program fees vary; see individual program sites. Fees include tuition, accommodations, board and materials. We anticipate matriculating students may seek departmental funding; supporting materials for such requests available from SFI. Tuition assistance for most programs (based on need and merit) is available and can be applied for through the online application.

Complex Systems Summer School

The premier school of its kind, this program is a project-based introduction to complex behavior in mathematical, physical, living and social systems. This three-week school is intended for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Graduate Workshop in Computational Social Sciences

This workshop is an intensive two-week study of computational social science modeling and complexity. Planned for a small cohort of advanced graduate students.

Global Sustainability

Sustainability in natural and social environments considered from a complex systems perspective; topics change annually. For professionals in the field, university students and faculty and policy-makers. Offered in cooperation with Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). Potsdam, Germany

Exploring Complexity in Science and Technology - A two-and-a-half day tour of complexity science specifically designed for professionals, faculty, students and others who are curious to explore and apply this new interdisciplinary scientific approach.
