The Miller Scholarship is the most prestigious visiting appointment at the Santa Fe Institute, for highly accomplished, creative thinkers from the arts, humanities, and sciences.

Cowan Professors

George Cowan is SFI's founding president. He endowed the Cowan Chair to attract leading social science researchers who have applied rigorous scientific methods in their fields, and who offer perspectives that are complementary to existing SFI research. The inaugural three-year appointments began July 1, 2011, and end June 30, 2014.

Sabbatical Visitors

The Santa Fe Institute maintains a vibrant and interactive Sabbatical program, reserved primarily for members of the SFI external Faculty.  Sabbaticals are coordinated through the office of the Chair of the Faculty, Doug Erwin (2011-2013), and should contact for further information and details.

External faculty, collaborator visits and other scientific visitors are coordinated through the office of the Chair of the Faculty, Doug Erwin (2011-2013), and should contact for information and details. BNet visitors are coordinated by The Vice President of Administration, , whom they should contact directly.
